This programme is designed to provide the experienced, qualified Marine Officer a qualification of suitable standing to enhance their employment potential within the marine sector, in particular shore based, management level roles.
The course consists of 6 units, each unit is classed as a 20 credit unit giving the candidate the 120 credits needed for a BSc (Hons) Degree.
The BSc (Hons) course is designed to allow students with a Foundation Degree or Advanced Diploma in Nautical Science, or a Master or Class 1 (Deck) Certificate of Competency, or equivalent to convert it. *
Where an applicant’s first language is not English they will be required to demonstrate evidence of achievement of 6 overall in the International English Language Testing Scheme (IELTS) with all element scores at 5.5 or higher.
*Students may be permitted to enter with advanced standing by Accreditation of Prior Learning (APL) or through an approved articulation or progression route.
It is the responsibility of candidates to ensure that all entry requirements for the course are met prior to attending the course.
Assessment is by closed book assessments or assignments plus a 6000 word dissertation.
BSc (Hons) Marine Operations. The BSc would be awarded after 1 year (2 semesters) of study and would be equivalent to 120 credits at level V1. 60 credits in semester 1 to gain a BSc. For BSc (Hons) the remaining 60 credits would be obtained by a further semester of study.
