OVERVIEW

This three day course covers the requirements of the safe use of electrical equipment in hazardous areas including:

  • Types of protection zones
  • Intrinsic safety requirements
  • Earthing systems
  • Glanding systems
  • Isolation procedures
  • Inspection requirements for Exe, d and n
  • Inspection requirements for Exi

The Faculty has extensive electrical power equipment and simulation which is arranged into useful practical tasks for the understanding of operation, control and fault finding.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

There are no pre-requisites for this course, it is designed for serving Marine Engineers or ETOs.

ASSESSMENT

In course continuous assessment and end test.
