The new MIST Standard covers five basic safety elements:

2. Workplace Hazards and Life Saving Rules

3. Risk Management

4. Control of Work

5. Helicopter Safety

Please note that any OPITO training does not provide direct employment opportunities within the Offshore Oil and Gas sector. The training provided on this course is to supplement your existing skills and experience and hence enable you to meet the safety requirements offshore. You are advised to review the range of employment opportunities available for a match with your current skill set.

OVERVIEW

This introductory safety training programme is designed to introduce the fundamental safety elements of the offshore oil & gas industry to new starts, giving an appreciation of the potential hazards and controls that might be encountered by personnell offshore. Each module has been designed to focus the delegates’ attention on their personal responsibility for safety thus influencing their behaviour and attitude towards their co-workers, the installation and the environment.

Course structure: 2 day OPITO Approved training course, covering all five basic safety elements.

Please note: If you are not an EU passport holder, you will require a Student Visitor Visa to attend any course at South Tyneside College.
