IALA/MCA (C0103-1)
This is the final course for those who are training to become VTS Operators (IALA Model Course C-0103-1). It is a one-week MCA approved course which takes place onsite, normally running Monday to Friday 09:00-17:00 with breaks for lunch and refreshments.
During the course candidates will make extensive use of a full mission Kongsberg VTS Simulator. Candidates are faced with a series of realistic and interactive simulation exercises designed to test individuals in all aspects of providing safe and efficient Vessel Traffic Services. The exercises gradually increase in complexity and require application of the knowledge gained during the VTS Underpinning Knowledge course.
Note: This course can also be used in place of the VTS recurrent course for VTS personnel needing to revalidate.
Candidate should have successfully completed the VTS Induction/Under Pinning Knowledge course.
This course is continuously assessed to the criteria set by IALA/MCA. Candidates will receive constructive feedback during debriefs after each exercise.
Successful completion of this course enables candidates to apply for roles as a VTS Operator.
