We are proud to be a distinguished, world-renowned centre of excellence for marine education and training. Founded in 1861, we are the longest operating marine training college in the world – and our reputation is unsurpassed. We offer a variety of commercial marine courses from short to Honours degree level; from navigation to catering. Our award-winning college sets anyone up for a successful career at sea.
OUR MISSION
We prepare you for everything marine life has to offer. Our high-quality training programmes cover the entire spectrum of marine education and nautical science courses. These include: deck operations, navigation, electrical and marine engineering, catering, and communications. We tailor our training to meet the different needs of the industries, companies and individuals we serve.

MEET OUR EXPERIENCED TEAM
Our highly experienced and knowledgeable team has a wealth of industry experience. Maritime Expert Simon Ashton is our Principal. He went to South Shields Marine School and had a successful maritime career before returning to the college. Other members of staff include our Advanced Simulation Manager, Mel Irving, and our Head of Deck Officer Certification, Jon Milner.
