PROGRESS ONTO A MERCHANT NAVY CADETSHIP
Upon completing a Pre-Cadetship, or after directly applying to a shipping company, you will undertake a sponsored Officer Cadet training programme.
Being sponsored means your Higher Education fees are covered, so you’ll have no student debt and you’ll be earning a salary. The three-year training programme is split into five phases. Three of these are college-based, consisting of academic study and safety training. The other two phases are practical: you will be on board a vessel, training and learning on the job.
Both academic and practical study will ensure that you gain the experience and knowledge to pass your final oral exams, which will enable you to become a fully qualified Officer.
