Established in 1861, we are the longest operating maritime college in the UK and the only specialist maritime college in the North-East – and our reputation is unsurpassed. We are also proud winners of the Queen’s Anniversary Prize for Further and Higher Education 2019.
The aim of our training schemes is to train young people to become the best officers in their desired discipline including Deck, Engineering and ETO and to take on duties in a responsbile manner, to make them more employable. Trainee Officers are therefore required to meet high standards of commitment, self-disclipline and organisation, and to undertake their training with a positive attitude.
