FINANCIAL SUPPORT
We believe nothing should get in the way of your education here at South Shields Marine School. To that end, there is a variety of financial support available for all age groups.
TUTORIAL COACHES
Every full-time student aged 16-18 is offered a Tutorial Coach to support you throughout your time with us. They offer one-to-one progress reviews, provide information and advice, and are always there for a chat.

OUR STUDENT LIAISON TEAM
Our student liaison team is there to answer your questions and support you in any way they can.
DISTANCE LEARNING
We are always adapting to make learning suit you. We have a variety of remote and flexible classes.
COUNSELLING
The College Counselling Service is here to help you, no matter what you’re struggling with. We offer one-on-one, confidential counselling from our qualified counsellor. They can help with crisis points or longer term problems, and can refer you onwards or help you access specialist help.
You can make an appointment by leaving a message at 0191 427 3773, dropping into student services, or you may wish to speak to a tutor who can make an appointment on your behalf.
SAFEGUARDING
There are wellbeing sessions every Monday to Friday from 9am – 10pm and also every Saturday and Sunday from 9am – 3pm. These drop in sessions are located opposite security in the Interface building, adjacent to the Halls of Residence. We also offer one-on-one educational support, access to counselling, financial support, and careers guidance. We encourage our students to be active and have social interaction. There is also a designated safeguarding lead, Eamonn Murphy, for any concerns about a young person.
