Route 2 – is available to learners holding an STCW Certificate (or equivalent) but it is designed for those who have not completed the required training on board ship and cannot provide evidence of this training via a Self-declaration.
This 1 day STCW Updated Proficiency in Advanced Fire-fighting and Fire Prevention (Route 2) Course is intended to give the learner the essential education and training set out in Table A-VI/3 of the STCW Code. Which states that ‘Seafarers qualified in accordance with paragraph 4 in Advanced Fire-fighting shall be required, every 5 years, to provide evidence of having maintained the required standard of competence, to undertake the tasks, duties and responsibilities listed in column 1 of Table A VI/3’.
Learners who are undertaking this training:-
During the course the learner will be continually assessed.
Upon successful completion of the course, all learners are issued with an STCW Updated Proficiency in Advanced Fire-fighting Certificate.
STCW Training does not provide direct employment opportunities within the Merchant Navy sector.
The training provided on this course is to supplement your existing skills and experience and hence enable you to meet the necessary safety requirements.
