This course focuses on the development of human resource and managerial skills of the participants. The course comprises lectures in human element theory, including case studies which analyze human element failings in marine accidents, followed by practical full mission simulator based exercises where technical challenges require the correct use of human element techniques to bring about safe satisfactory resolutions. The practical exercises are completed by technical and human element debriefs, where good and bad practice is demonstrated using audio-visual playback facilities.

The course tutors are experienced chief engineer / engineering superintendents, who possess PGCE/Cert.Ed. teaching qualifications, and have been delivering human element training for many years.
