Course content:

  • Musters, drills and abandonment.
  • Types and operation of craft, their equipment and davits.
  • Practical boat handling (oars and power)
  • Man overboard.
  • Casual handling.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

For the issue of a Certificate of Proficiency in Survival Craft and Rescue Boats, you must:

(a) Be at least 18 years of age;

(b) Already hold a Certificate of Proficiency in Personal Survival Techniques (STCW Code A-VI/1-1);

(c) Successfully complete MCA-approved training in PSC & RB, meeting the standard of competence in Section A-VI/2 and Table A-VI/2-1 of the STCW Code;

(d) Have completed at least 6 months’ approved seagoing service.

At MOST we require that all students attending the PSC&RB course must have completed the PST course prior to attending the PSC&RB course.

ASSESSMENT

Continuous assesment by observation of learning outcomes and final practical and oral examination by MCA approved examiner.

PROFESSIONAL OPPORTUNITIES

Merchant Navy personnel wishing to qualify for AB certificate or first Certificate of Competency.
