OVERVIEW

This is a three-week MCA approved course designed for people without an OOW Deck or equivalent qualification who are training to become VTS Operators. The course takes place onsite, normally running Monday to Friday 09:00-17:00 with breaks for lunch and refreshments.

Areas of study include:

  • Chartwork and tides
  • Collision regulations
  • Aids to navigation
  • Shipborne navigational aids including radar & ARPA
  • Shipboard knowledge
  • Port operations
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

English Language to the equivalent of IELTS Level 5.0 for students whose first language is not English.

FURTHER INFORMATION

This qualification (or recognised equivalent) is one of several qualifications required to become a VTS Operator.
