On 3-5 March 2025, South Shields Marine School’s Navigation and Engineering Pre-Cadets had a work experience trip on the DFDS King Seaways ferry travelling from North Shields, UK, to Ijmuiden, near Amsterdam, Netherlands.
Students were able to visit the bridge and learn about the navigation of the ship directly from Daniel the Captain, as well as visiting the engines and control room with Junior Engine Officer Asger to see what work is like on board.
On 4 March, staff and students enjoyed a few hours in Amsterdam before heading back on the ferry.
We hope you enjoy our photo highlights of this trip below.
