⚽ On Sunday 18th May, staff, students, and families headed down to South Shields FC to watch our Deck students (in the maroon shirts) take on our Engineering students (in the blue shirts) in the Dr Winterbottom Charity Football Match 2025 ⚽

Last year saw the Deck students defeated by the Engineers 12-1, so there was a lot of anticipation on how the Deck side would strike back this year 🏃

Both teams were performing strong at the start, with goals on both sides within the first 10 minutes. By half time, the score was 2 – 2. Teams played tirelessly putting up a fight to defend and strike, and when the final whistle was blown, they were still neck and neck with 3 – 3. Going into extra time, Deck scored two more goals, and after a quick VAR check from our photography team, Deck secured the victory and won with an amazing 5-3! 🏆

Well done to students on both sides who all played remarkably well and showed great teamwork. Each team have won one match each so far, so next year’s game will be even more exiting! 🤝

This match raised over £650 for charity, which will be split between our Dr Winterbottom student support fund and the Sailors’ Society 💙
